The modern view on Lucretius' theory of progress

In connection with the entry into force of the new edition of the nomenclature of scientific specialties, the journal is included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Sciences, for the degree of Doctor of Sciences, in the following scientific specialties should be published: 5.6.1. The modern view on Lucretius' theory of progress

The article deals with the theory of progress of the Roman poet and philosopher Lucretius. The author treats it as an immanent element of Lucretius' philosophical system connected with his physics and ethics. It is proved that the main ideas of this Roman philosopher are bound up with some modern problems such as correlation of technical progress and moral regress, ecological problems etc.
