Republic of Adigey and Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia 1992–1993

The causes of the Georgian-Abkhazian collision which led to the war of 1992–1993 are researched in this article. The forms of support of the peoples of the North Caucasus, given to Abkhazian people in their struggle for the independence, are investigated. The main attention is paid to the help given to the Republic Adigey and the participation of Adigeys, Circassians, Abazins, Russians and Cossacks in military actions against Georgian military forces and armed bands. The regularity and just character of the acquisition of independence by Abkhazia are shown.
