The article is devoted to Muhammad, Awabi Ectasy – author of the world famous works "Derbend-nameh". He wrote his work on the basis of various sources in Arabic and Persian. His work highlights the events that took place in Dagestan, the Caucasus in the early middle ages, associated with the Sassanids, the Arab conquests, it refers to the Arab-Khazar wars.
