Attributive Constructions with the Component «Zheleznaya Doroga» in the Russian Language: Semantics, Syntagmatics and Pragmatics

Attributive combinations of «adjective + stable combination zheleznaya doroga» are examined from various perspectives, including their typological, evaluative and fi gurative features. Such adjectives (e.g., apel’sinnaya, butaforskaya, detskaya, zanyatnaya, myshinaya, pionerskaya, rzhavaya, shikarnaya and etc.), when combined with the stable combination zheleznaya doroga typically reflect its stylistically marked, atypical or contextually determined properties. The article also examines the synonymous variants
of bosonogaya chugunka, pervaya chugunka and gorodskaya zhelezka, the analysis of which allows to trace the paradigmatic connections between lexemes related to the same reality.
