The Newspaper «Molot» of 1954 in the Context of Antireligious Propaganda in the Rostov Region
This article explores the characteristics of antireligious publications in the Molot newspaper in 1954. The methodological basis of the study is based on the traditional principles of scientific objectivity, systematicity, and historicism.
It is noted that the publication of antireligious articles, which began in Molot on July 16, 1954, was prompted by the adoption of the resolution «On Major Defi ciencies in Scientific Atheist Propaganda and Measures for Improving It» on July 7, 1954, which marked the beginning of a new phase of administrative
and legal pressure on religious organizations.
It is concluded that during the second half of 1954, Molot published four articles in which antireligious statements were framed within the context of Soviet ideology, philosophy, and foreign policy, without affecting the interests of local religious organizations in the Rostov region.
