Religious Life of the Rural Population of Kuban in the 1920s – 1930s. (Based on Documents of the Documentation Center for the Modern History of the Krasnodar Territory)
State of religious life in Kuban in the 1920s and 1930s based on party documents.
The author concludes that the documents note a high level of religiosity, the continuation of parish life, compliance with bans on work on Christian holidays, the protection of clergy, and the defense of traditional values and religious beliefs before the authorities. Party organs long lost the ideological confrontation with popular religiosity, and only the use of the full power of the party apparatus was able to turn the tide.
