The article considers the non-equivalent vocabulary of the Kalmyk language as a refl ection of the specifics of the linguistic and cultural communities of Kalmykia. Local practices (nomadic cattle breeding, Buddhist rituals, tribal institutions) constitute lexical units that have no direct correspondences
in the Russian language. The lexical and thematic groups reflecting the dialectal features of the Kalmyk language are analyzed. The dialectological material allowed us to identify lexemes of narrow-fi eld usage; inter-dialect variability in the nomination of the same concept.; semantic divergence, in which the same lexeme implements different meanings in diff erentdialects.
