The epidemiological significans of domestic animals (cats and dogs) in plague is reviewed. When infected with plague these carnivora can be a source of infection for humans. The animals that are not infected can transport fleas or corpses of rodents infected with plague into houses. In this case they are indirectly involved in the human infection.
