Tanatology and Greece mythology

The paper studies the notions of the Life and the Death, peculiar for the Greek mythology. The research has revealed the fact that nevertheless the mythology contained the first in European tradition detailed description of the Kingdom of the Dead, where the soul went after the death, and formally existing idea of the Last Judgement and Retribution, the death and the life post mortem provoked the horror and the hate of the Greek people. The Greek mythology represents a disharmonious system of values, which is characterized by the opposition of the Life apotheosis to the Death. And it was this peculiarity that the European mentality inherited.
