The thesis on incompatibility of speculative philosophy and modern philosophy of life is being proved in the article. The article suggests the non-traditional concept of categories as forms of reason activities. This concept is laid down as a foundation to recognise the identity of dialectics, logic and the theory of cognition. The distinction of dialectics as a method of scientific thinking and as a logical theory allowed determining the place and function of dialectics in the system of scientific philosophy of life.
