About evolution of sights of A.P. Ermolov on methods of a policy in Russia and the Chechen Republic

On new archival materials A.P. Ermolov's activity in the Chechen Republic (1816-1827) is considered. In opinion of the author, the Commander-in-chief on Caucasus, objectively estimating a situation in the Chechen Republic, comes to a conclusion what to solve a problem of Russian - mountain mutual relation power to methods it is impossible. It can be achieved only a combination of military, political and social and economic methods.
