Foreign Pen-Names in the Russian Poetry: Their Significance, Purpose and Functions

The article is a linguistic investigation of individual pseudonimization prevailing in the Russian poetry in the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The data for the study are only those fictitious names, which - one way or another - incorporate alien elements. The author comes to a number of conclusions on the latent causes of such pseudonimization; the most important functions of foreign pen-names within the Russian text of poetry are also pointed out.
