Explanation and understanding in the system of philosophical bases in modern history

The article offers the analysis of some aspects of the role and importance of the philosophy of history as a theory and epistemology of the modern historical knowledge. The author uses the methodological strategies of historical explaining and understanding as a method of creating new philosophy of historical mind. The basic idea here is a notion of the historical text as a linguistic model of the past. The logic of representation of the past in the text cannot be equated with the logic of real historical practice. Historical explanation and understanding are considered to be the “rules of restoring of the past”.
