The features of linguistic description of the oprichnina of Ivan Grozny by N.M.Karamzin in the “History of Russia State” is retraced in the article. The process of formation of the language of scientific historical text in the Russian historiography of the first quarter of the 19th century in comparison with the language of the second half of 18th century in the M.M. Scherbatov’s work “The history of Russia from the ancients time”.
