Standard and Substandard in the Language: on Substantiation of Notions

In connection with the entry into force of the new edition of the nomenclature of scientific specialties, the journal is included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Sciences, for the degree of Doctor of Sciences, in the following scientific specialties should be published: 5.6.1. Standard and Substandard in the Language: on Substantiation of Notions

The article is dedicated to the characteristic of notions “standard” and “substandard” in Russian language environment. Linguists’ reference to the use of term “substandard” is proved from the position of objective circumstances. It is offered to differentiate the expression “literary language” and to revive the term “standard”, which notion excludes uncodified elements of Russian ethnolanguage. Substandard is studied as a source of general language innovations.
