Structural Types of Transformation of Phraseological Units in the Modern Language of Mass Media

The article analyses such structural types of transformation of phraseological units in the modern English-speaking discourse which do not lead to dephraselogization of the units and have a bright emotional meaning. It has been proved that the journalist springing into action the phraselogical unit transformation is guided by the interlocutor’s cognitive ability in forecasting the possible ways of utterance development, reconstructing the lacking chain of the information. At the same time the journalist carries out the emotional impact on the reader leaving him a chance to restore intellectual and logical chain of figurative meanings – from external to underlying.
