The article deals with one of the founders and early leaders of the Soviet Navy – Eduard Samuilovich Pantserzhansky. It is pointed to the precarious situation of military experts in the Red Army. The problem of the fate of the faculty of the Academy of General Staff of the Red Army is considered. The Polish mark in Pantserzhansky’s life is investigated. The author pays special attention on causes of the death of military commander who became a victim of political repression.
