Culture-Ideological Aspects of the Tensions Growth in the North Caucasus Region

The culture-ideological factors that affect the growth of tension in the North Caucasus region are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the phenomenon of religious renaissance which has played a key role in socio-cultural development of the North Caucasus in the post-Soviet period. The mutual interference of Wahhabi ideology and terrorist underground in the North Caucasus is demonstrated. The conclusion about the need to develop alternative ideological projects that can compete with the ideas of radical Islam is made.
