The essential signs of “national historiography” are given an the article, its main tendencies and development directions are analysed with respect to the research of interaction of Russian and Soviet state with North Caucasian ethnosocial communities.
“National” historians’ assessments of phase development level of North-Caucasian peoples during the process of their integration within Russian state-legal system is critically analysed. The influence of ethno-centrical, ethno­complementary assessments on the characteristic features of modern ethnopolitical situation in the North Caucasus is revealed.
