Symbols of Rostov Region: Dialog between Traditional and Contemporary Characters

In connection with the entry into force of the new edition of the nomenclature of scientific specialties, the journal is included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Sciences, for the degree of Doctor of Sciences, in the following scientific specialties should be published: 5.6.1. Symbols of Rostov Region: Dialog between Traditional and Contemporary Characters

The article casts light upon traditional and contemporary characters embodied in symbols of Rostov region. The author makes a conclusion that the regional coat of arms, ?ag and anthem have multi-level semantics and are able to consolidate different tiers of society. They produce symbolic ideas of stability, steadiness, development, movement, liberty, and independency. Symbols of the region bear, as well, historic, social and cultural features of Cossack sub-ethnics.
