The article deals with the analysis of a speech genre of a request in speech of the elite language personality. The problem of speech genres is one of actual problems in modern linguistics. Letters of A.P. Chekhov were the research material. Their analysis gives the chance to get the idea of speech-behavioral tactics as expressing a speech genre of a request in a real work.
