The article analyzes the main social characteristics of the modern students the two major regions of Southern Russia – Rostov and Stavropol Territory. The author considers the quantitative dynamics of regional students, their material level, ethnic composition, the Influence of students on the social and economic life of the regional capitals and other important cities in these regions.
