The primary analysis of the materials of sociological research on the socio-political sentiments in the student environment of the city of Rostov-on-Don is carried out and block of questions, connected with the social characteristics of the student youth, is defined. It provides a generalized image of students of the various fields of education – humanitarian, natural-science, engineering, medical, shows the social distortions arising in the process of reforming higher education.
