Heraclitus’ Teaching of the Word

In connection with the entry into force of the new edition of the nomenclature of scientific specialties, the journal is included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Sciences, for the degree of Doctor of Sciences, in the following scientific specialties should be published: 5.6.1. Heraclitus’ Teaching of the Word

The article is dedicated to the ancient Greeks’ contribution to linguistics and history of the European rational thinking. It analyzes Heraclitus’ teaching of the logos which allows to trace the transition from the primeval identiﬁcation of the name and object to distinction between them. Heraclitus’ doubt in realness of the names given “according to the nature of things” ( physei) and his thoughts on realness of the names given “through convention” (thesei) play a crucial role in the history of philosophy and science.
