Heraclitus’ Teaching of the Word
The article is dedicated to the ancient Greeks’ contribution to linguistics and history of the European rational thinking. It analyzes Heraclitus’ teaching of the logos which allows to trace the transition from the primeval identification of the name and object to distinction between them. Heraclitus’ doubt in realness of the names given “according to the nature of things” ( physei) and his thoughts on realness of the names given “through convention” (thesei) play a crucial role in the history of philosophy and science.
