Caucasus Studies: Role in the Reintegration Process, the Development of Russian Civil Identity and Business Potential

The authors set the purpose to show the role of Caucasian in strengthening civic identity in the Caucasus including
the formation of social and cultural values and meanings that defi ne the re-integration processes in the region. Under
Caucasiology understood social sciences and humanities, which are the subject the problems of peoples in Caucasus
including a backbone role play historical sciences.
It is shown the integrating role of the Russian Caucasus Studies in 19th – 21 s t centuries. In the post-Soviet Caucasus
Studies acquired ethnocentric character segmentation and confl icting ethnoscientifi c schools. They moved away from
scientifi c principles and began to generate political myths based on ideology etnoetatizma turned into a factor of ethnic
mobilization, ethnic confl icts. Currently, Russian caucasiologists aware of the need to overcome the politicization of
Caucasian, on a number of major scientifi c meetings are the steps to restore the scientifi c communication and constructive
dialogue. This opens up the possibility of harmonization within the Russian civic identity and ethnic identity Caucasian,
overcome their confl ict potential. This process can be successful with the support of the integration of social and cultural
projects by the regional business.
