Intermarriage as an Indicator of Inter-Ethnic Relations (Analysis of Sociological Research in the Republic of Kalmykia)

The article analyzes the responses to the question “How you would react to the fact that anyone in your immediate
family has entered into marriage with a representative of another nationality? These results, identifying the marriage mood,
fi nd out the degree of acceptance of ethnic values. This analysis will allow us to measure the level of ethnic tension in
modern Kalmyk society.
Comparing the results of the respondents Kalmyk and Russian respondents, note that the Kalmyks show a greater
desire to join the culture belongs spouse than Russians. The Kalmyks in a mixed family have increased more than the
Russians, the requirement spouses to knowledge and respect of ethnic culture of the elect.
In both groups, the dominant view in which the choice of the second half, fi rst of all, attention is drawn to the
personal qualities of the person, love. Respondents Kalmyks several negativna confi gured to projective mixed marriages
than Russians would prefer the person of his nationality, but to argue against such a marriage would not.
The analysis shows that the attitude to mixed marriages mostly positive, indicating a satisfactory state of interethnic
relations in the Republic. However, despite healthy in General “ethnic climate in the Republic, there are situations in which
there is an undesirable aspect of inter-ethnic relations, namely the desire for secrecy, isolation in their ethnic community
that is installing the rejection of the “other” in “their”. Must analyze which factors in modern conditions contribute to the
formation of socio-psychological barriers in inter-ethnic interaction, complicate inter-ethnic interaction.
