Professor P.N. Chernyaev and the Problems of the Regional History

Professor of Warsaw University P. N. Chernyaev was known primarily as an expert on Roman history and Latin
literature. But after the establishment of Soviet ascendency, because of the reduction of taught him subjects, he had to
explore the problems of regional history and Caucasian studies. This article is devoted to the analysis of his researches
on this subject. In the articles, he researched the workings of experts on the Caucasus and linguists P.K. Uslar, N. P.
Lopatinskii and Don Ethnographer A. A. Martynov. The author also briefl y writes about his participation in the local
numismatic society
regional history, science of Caucasus, numismatics, linguistics, North Caucasus society of history and antiquity
