Circassian Web Resources: Structural Features, Dynamics of Development, Content Aspects
The authors presents the results of integrated research work, conducted in 2014–2015 on Circassian web resources in Internet. Statistic base includes specialized Circassian and Caucasian websites in Russian, Circassian, Turkish, Arabic and English. The authors established the common dynamics of creation, closure and suspension of Circassian websites in different languages, defi ned their types and traced their orientation. The authors also examined activity and potential of each language segment. The offi cial recognition of the Circassia genocide was pointed out as the core theme for all Circassia web resources. The authors also examined specifi c features of language segments and discovered that most of Circassia websites in Russian, Circassian and Turkish unlike in English are active. However, in the English-speaking segment located most unique materials, derivatives of which are located in other segments except the Turkish one. Englishlanguage materials are often the binding element of the Circassia information fi eld and written not by the Circassians, but Western scholars and journalists.
