Thinkers of the Past: Philosophical-Culturological Concepts of G.P. Fedotov (to the 130th Anniversary from Birthday)
The article is a brief analysis of the philosophical concept, which belongs to the outstanding Russian philosopher G. P. Fedotov. His fi ndings concluded a number of articles. The advantage of this study is that we focus his teachings on one of the selected problems, namely the study of the phenomenon of culture. Fedotov describes culture as a living light, starting from its fi rst light and ending in darkness. Culture is born from the idea which belongs to man. Moreover,
she “brought” humanity and its traditions. Fedotov is trying to guess what it may become in the future. And it is very troubling. Because he sees the probability of a tragic end. In such a situation, the philosopher hopes only for the religiosity
of the culture. Degree of belief depends the future of humanity. It remains only to understand how to help the culture to choose the right path. Fedotov has devoted the whole life to finding answers. And he found them in the Christian doctrine.
What Christian truth should become a benchmark for culture. The ideal of such truths is enclosed in the Image of God. As a result of the fact that it is practically not feasible – the culture will not reach its end.
