On the Sources of Classical European Humanism: Ancient Roman Philosophy, Byzantine Humanism, and Renaissance

The question of the sources of classical European humanism is considered in the article. The authors prove that the essential role in the course of formation of Renaissance anthropocentrism and humanism was played by the philosophy
of Ancient Rome and the Byzantine humanism. Ancient Roman philosophy has laid the foundation for formation of an anthropological paradigm. Thanks to the Byzantine humanism the interest in Ancient Greek philosophical literature was
approved in the Europe. The explanation of a phenomenon of the Renaissance humanism demands the accounting of many factors and the cross-cultural influences. At the same time process of their analysis promotes the deepest understanding of essence of the European humanism.
