Caucasus as a Symbol of Russian Romantic Orientalism and Oriental Motives in the Works of the Decembrists

The author shows the main stages of romantic Orientalism as one of the specific areas in the Russian literature. Consideration on the basis of certain historical periods, they actually represent the tread of the flow. The paper reflects the outlook of the Decembrists writers who, on the one hand, were associated with Enlightenment ideas of past centuries, the other – take into account new trends. Excerpts of the critical works of famous Russian and Azerbaijan scientists complement the article, giving it a character of synthesis of scientific information and artistic generalization.
