Parliamentary Communication in Bilingual Aspect
The article covers distinctive characteristics of Russian-Ossetian bilingualism in South Ossetian parliamentary discourse. Various levels of linguistic transfer between the languages in contact are under study. The author investigates
topical problem of bilingualism in the political discourse of the Republic of South Ossetia. The author argues that the high level of linguistic transfer in public speeches of political leaders of the Republic of South Ossetia can be considered
as the result of intercultural communication of the citizens of the republic with those of Russia in various spheres. The object of this study has been to identify and explain the existence and variety of linguistic transfer in south ossetian political discourse. The difference in choice of linguistic means in south ossetian parliamentary discourse is determined by age, sex, ethnicity, religion, education. We study bilingualism in the public speeches of the speaker of the parliament
of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov, which is one of the aspects of linguistic personality of the speaker.
Bilingual communicative strategies and tactics used by the speaker of the parliament reveal the peculiarities of the parliamentary discourse of this republic.
The author proves the hypothesis of a special signifi cance of using both Russian and ethnic(ossetian) language in the political speeches of politicians in this young state as the political discourse of The Republic of South Ossetia is being formed according to the rules of that of Russia.
