South-Ossetia Political Discourse in the Polylingual Communicative Space

Authors investigate the characteristic features of political communication in the Republic of South Ossetia. The peculiarities of the South-Ossetian political discourse will be viewed on the material of scripts of interviews and meetings
of South Ossetia President with the citizens of RSO.
Scientifi c research in this area is carried out for the first time, as the discourse analysis and systemic description of the South Ossetian political communication are among the most signifi cant issues within the South Ossetian Linguistics.
Public speeches of the political leader of the country realize the ethnic specificity of political communication.
Discourse analysis of the communicative personality of L.Kh. Tibilov reveals general tendency to the growing role of close-contact communication of the President and the citizens of the country. As the South Ossetian political discourse is presented as an institutional communicative act carried out in the framework of Russian-Ossetian bilingualism the present article views general characteristics of the current language situation in the Republic of South Ossetia as well and analyzes functional distribution of the two official languages of the Republic of South Ossetia – Ossetian and Russian and peculiarities of their functional-pragmatic usage in the political discourse of the President of the RSO L.Kh. Tibilov.
