The National Book of the Circassian Autonomous Region in 1946–1952

(Karachay-Cherkes Institute for Humanities Research)

The article considers book publishing in the languages of the people of the Circassian autonomous region in the postwar years. In 1945 the Circassian regional publishing house in the course of reorganization became a branch of the Stavropol regional publishing house with very limited functions. The regional printing house also went under the jurisdiction of the regional Press agency and refused to print books in the Circassian, Nogay and Abazin languages. In this regard, orders for the publication of books in the Circassian language were posted in the Kabardian publishing house in the city of Nalchik, and in the Nogay language in the city of Grozny. The results of the analysis of book business indicate that in the postwar years the volume of book production in the native languages of the people of the Region has significantly decreased. Mainly social-political and educational-methodical literature and a small number of fiction books were published.
Abazin book, Nogay books, Stavropol regional publishing house, Circassian book, Circassian regional publishing house
