Spacial and Temporal Continuum of an Artistic Cinema Image: Historical Modifications

(Southern Federal University)

The article is devoted to the problem of ontologic parameters of art, and its spatial, temporal and spacio-temporal characteristics are considered. It is claimed that a special feature of the real space and time reflected in art is their esthetic sense. The article deploys the concept of artistic spacial and temporal continuum. The continuum means something continuous. This term is applied to spacial and temporal art forms. The world of cinema is described as a change from one spacial and temporal continuum of a film image to another, and it is proved that each type of this continuum is born and changes in a fight between expressive and representative functions which is shown using examples of works of film directors and fi lm schools.
The unity of space and time continuum of an artistic image is the goal of a true artist of the cinema. The purpose of a true cinema artist is to achieve a level where individual expressive possibilities of this art (montage, photogenicity, etc.) in the finished product do not accompany each other, but are organic interaction. Integration of individual expressive possibilities of cinema art is the basis of complex human feelings (“sight-hearing”). This complex human sense forms
well-developed sensuality.
