Purpose: designing various models of social behavior, based on mental programs, and the development of appropriate forms of control. This requires, first, to reveal the specifi c mental programs of modal models of social behavior of Russian citizens; second, to consider the peculiarities of forms of control in the Russian society; third, to establish correspondence of the forms of control with modal models of social behavior of Russians.
Method: within the framework of the neoclassical model of sociological research, based on the principle of constructive realism, the synthesis of the situational and dispositional approaches and the E. Giddens’s theory of double structuration act as paradigmatic foundations for the study of social behavior and forms of social control.
Results: modal patterns of social behavior are conditioned by refl ective structures of the mental program – ideas, values and attitudes of individuals and groups. Depending on their different content, conservative, liberal and hybrid mental programs of social behavior models are distinguished. Various forms of social control, which conformity depends on how the types of social behaviour of individuals and groups are adequate to formal and informal norms, are peculiar
to modal patterns of social behavior, depending on the content of mental programs. If the actual and expected social behavior of individuals and groups correspond to each other, civil and administrative forms of control are used. In case of a mismatch of actual and expected social behavior of individuals and groups in society, a communicative form of control is used. In general, the problem of matching the patterns of social behaviour and forms of control needs further development, approbation within sociological researches.
