On Place and Role of Dialogue in the Philosophy of the Middle Ages and Renaissance

The history of genesis and development of dialogical forms of spiritual culture, the place and role of dialogue during an era of the Middle Ages are investigated in the article. Dialogue holds the central position in a medieval thought. Such characteristics of medieval thinking as religious orientation, the confidence in existence of God-given truth, ambiguous interpretation of the text of the
Sacred Writing, degree of development of the argumentation and others are revealed as the basis of medieval dialogue. Comparative analysis of the medieval dialogue presented in the form of a scholastic debate and dialogue as a way of representation of new knowledge to Renaissance are conducted in this work.
