The Oirat Legislative Movement “Ikh Tsaaz” (The Great code, 1640 y.) in the Context of Preserving the Traditional Family and Kinship Relations of the Kalmyks at Present

The article is dedicated to the analysis of mongol-oirat legislative monument “Ikh Tsaaz” (The Great code), which was adopted in 1640 on the meeting of the biggest khallakh and oirad feudalists, concerning important things about social order, common law, customs and life of the nomadic people, cattle-breeding, and family relations of oirad people, to whom Russian-living kalmyks were related.
Special attention is paid to research of sections (articles), reflecting family relations in the past and their current dynamics.
It is actualized the importance of studying of the old-written legislative monument in the conditions of changing family-marriage, kinship relations in time of transition from the traditional model to modern. In the article it is shown, that in modern kalmyk families are still observed some prohibitions, analogies of which are noted in the ancient code “Ikh Tsaaz” (The Great code). For example, respect of elders, the provision of material assistance during the wedding, a fair distribution are remained.
It is found that the content of legislative articles, related to the family-marriage relations, which has not lost its relevance in our modern changing times.
