Language Policy in Cameroon in Colonial and Post- Colonial Periods
The article is devoted to the problem of language policy in Cameroon in various stages of its historical development. The differences in the “styles of administration” under protectorate and mandate are analyzed. The peculiarities of language policies promoted by German, British and French colonial administrations are compared on various stages of the formation of Cameroon as a state. Also the authors make a detailed analysis of the language situation in the modern Cameroon. The language policy in administrative and educational domains, as well as in mass media and religion is considered.
