The Role and Influence of Malgobek Defensive Operation on the Outcome of the Battle for Caucasus

The article studies the course and importance of the Malgobek Defensive operation, basing on the analysis of archival documents and literature, and its impact not only on the outcome of the battles for Stalingrad and Rostov-on-don, but in General on the Great Patriotic war. Examples of feats of the red army soldiers are given, courageously defending the Malgobek Land. The assistance of the population of the border areas and Malgobek in the construction of fortifications is considered, in particular.
The study is based on the analysis of the Malgobek defensive strategic operation, which took place in close connection with the Stalingrad and Rostov battles of 1942-1943. Due to the strong resistance of the red army soldiers in all three southern directions, the Germans could not produce a castling of their troops as they expected and strengthen the weak areas if needed.
The work shows the Patriotic spirit of the people, the unity of the front and rear that ensured the success of the red Army in the fight against the Germans. It was very important for the country to defend these cities, as the South of the country was the main supplier of bread, oil and lubricants so necessary for the front and the country during the war.
