The Screen Culture and the derationalization the Consciousness of the Russians: Towards the Problem Statement

(Southern Federal University)

The article is devoted to the formulation of the problem of the screen culture infl uence on the state of consciousness of Russians, which is characterized as «derational». The main objective-potential (the absurdity of Being) and subjective-relevant (the reassessment of values; the pressure of the value on the rational; private - on the general; «schizophrenization», «clipping» of consciousness, etc.) reasons are identifi ed as a factors of such a consciousness deformation. The main derationalizing characteristics of screen culture are noted: fi rst of all, virtuality (preference for the image over a thing, for the copy over original, for presentation over reality, for visibility over essence), and also sensuously and symbolic expression of the consciousness orientation on the subject. The author believes that in connection with the screen culture aggression, a kind of archaic rollback began from the Letter (text) - to the «cinema», television Picture (image); he considers this as a tendency to supplant the mental fi gurative form of perception; historically, it was embodied by myth as a (pre-scientific rational) consciousness. Its modern screen mythologization as the devaluation of the Logos becomes a new - figurative - form of virtuality in the system of mythologemes. In conclusion, the problem of the rational development possibilities of the unavoidable derationalizing influence of screen culture on the mass consciousness is formulated.
