Institute of Church and Individualization of Religious Consciousness

(Southern Federal University)

The article deals with the investigation of influence of religious consciousness individualization to the institutional status of a church in contemporary Russian society. Using the example of the Russian Orthodox Church, the article demonstrates main lines of transformation of the church status as a social institute of post-secular society. The result of the article is the statement that individualization of religious consciousness of people, who identify themself as the Orthodox Christians, should be understood as the acceptance of values and norms of the church by them not in an integral system, but selectively, combined with elements of other value-normative systems; this form of individualization is not closed to interaction with the church.
