Analyzing the transformation of activities in the context of the modification of the modern society of educational institutions in general, and universities in particular, the authors assume that educational traditions, including the traditions of the University, are deeply rooted in national cultures, inextricably linked with their socio-historical context. In this case, the issue of what impact globalization has on culture in general, and on university traditions that preserve quite important values of national culture in particular, becomes of great importance. The problems of transformation of activities in the field of education are manifested in the most concentrated form in relation to the classical university.
The authors consider the issue of whether such university models as “entrepreneurial university”, “third-generation university” and other models, actively proposed by various modern researchers, can completely replace the classical university model. The
negative consequences, which will be caused by an ill-conceived, uncritical and mechanical imposition of a new university model, including in intercultural communication, are analyzed.
