Military Training in the School System Rostov-on-Don (1941 – the first half of 1943)

The article analyzes the system of military training in schools in Rostov-on-Don during the Great Patriotic War, its key elements and mechanisms of functioning. The role and significance of military training in the general school cycle of disciplines in
Rostov-on-Don, which was of strategic importance on the southern flank of the Soviet-German front, is revealed.
The main attention is paid to the study and analysis of documents deposited in local archives. The key aspects of the introduction and development of military training in schools at the legal and organizational levels are highlighted and analyzed.
The specific features of working with children in the conditions of the Great Patriotic War are noted in connection with the increasing role of military training in the general learning process in schools in Rostov-on-Don. It is emphasized that a fairly rapid transition to active work in this direction was ensured due to the regulatory framework available by 1941. Attention is drawn to the fact that military training was carried out both at the state and public levels within the framework of voluntary military sports societies.
They were the mainstay for the dissemination and cultivation of military knowledge. These organizations worked closely with state and party bodies, thereby strengthening the general system of mass military training of the population.
