Struggle for the Malaya Zemlya Bridgehead in German Documents (February– September 1943)

Purpose: The fight on the bridgehead named "Malaya Zemlya" were a notable event in the battle of the Caucasus 1942–1943. The article deals with problem of reflecting this battle in the documents of the Wehrmacht.
Methods: The author used comparative and statistical methods. They are provided for comparison of information from different documents, analysis of data on the activity and efforts of the troops. Research based on German documents from the Central Archives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration and the German Federal Military Archive.
Results: The study of new sources about the battles of Malaya Zemlya made it possible to analyze the actions of the Wehrmacht against the Soviet landing in February 1943 and failure of the German offensive on the bridgehead in April 1943.
