(Institute for the Humanities Research – branch of Kabardian-Balkarian Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences)

The modern speech of the Circassian diaspora living abroad has its own stylistic coloring. Comparative analysis with the literary Kabardino-Circassian language shows the presence of a large number of foreign expressions, neologisms, archaisms.
The main purpose of this work is to study some lexical and stylistic features of Circassian speech abroad. To achieve this goal, theoretical material on stylistics was studied and practical material was analyzed (KBIGI phonoarchive and the author's field material).
It is established that the speech of representatives of the Circassian diaspora has lexical and stylistic features that arose as a result of isolated development and lack of writing. The main lexical layer of Circassian speech is conditionally divided into two groups: neutral and formal. It is noted that the vocabulary of the Circassian diaspora is expanding due to the flow of various texts from different oral sources. The strong influence of the linguistic environment has led to the presence of a large layer of foreign language vocabulary in speech. It is concluded that the conversational style does not have strict norms, unlike the literary language,
and this explains the peculiarities of pronunciation, the use of words by representatives of the Circassian (Adyghe) diaspora abroad.
