Memory about Events and Participations of the Great Patriotic War in Contemporary Russia: Legal Bases of Goverment Policy and Monument Practices

Purpose: Contemporary Russian historians are actively studying the memory policy. The subject of study of the article is government policy to perpetuate of Events and Participations of the Great Patriotic War and Monument Practices in 1991–2021.
Methods: Historiographic and source analysis, compare analysis are the basic methods of the current research. Legal and monument sources are classified according to the problem-chronological principle.
Results: The key task of state policy remains the legal regulation of the procedures for the burial of the found remains of soldiers and the perpetuation of their memory in memorials installed at military graves. There is continuity with the Soviet period not only in the practice of erecting memorials for anniversaries associated with Victory Day and the beginning or end of the main battles of the Great Patriotic War, but also in the images used to create.
