Purpose of the Study: A comprehensive presentation of the relationship between the educational trajectory of Russian language learning in China and the political trajectory of Sino-Russian relations.
Methods: Comparative historical analysis of the factual material presented in academic papers; re-enactment of the problems of Russian language studies in China on the basis of the main state documents; systematization and theoretical generalization of the information on modern discursive practices and achievements in the training of multidisciplinary Russian language specialists.
Results: The purposefulness of the cognitive approach determined the characteristic of the significant stages of the discursive practice of Russian language studies in China as a way of understanding the knowledge representation methods and its storage.
The rapid and stable development of Sino-Russian relations determines the fundamental change in the trajectory of Russian language teaching in China from politically-oriented (before the 21st century) to culturally-oriented (first decade of the 21st century) and practice-oriented (second decade of the 21st century – present).
Discussion: The strengthening of scientific work in the field of bilateral relations as well as increasing the level of internationalization in the professional training of Russian language specialists are the main vectors for the development of Russian
language studies in China.
