Patriotic Initiatives and Labor Contribution of Rostov Region Minors During the Great Patriotic War

The article reflects the forms and results of young generation’s activities for the benefit of the motherland during the Great Patriotic War. The purpose of the article is to analyze decisions and resolutions of city, district executive committees and regional
committee of the CPS(b) in Rostov Region, and to assess the expected contribution and real participation of children and adolescents in achieving national throughout the war. It has been established that in 1941 to the middle of 1943 the main forms of
assistance to the country were such activities as collecting scrap metal, making warm clothes for the Red Army soldiers, caring for the wounded, growing herbs, collecting medicinal herbs and pharmaceutical utensils, as well as working in the fields. As cities and regions were liberated until the end of the war, teenager were involved to the restoration of damaged industry and infrastructure.
By 1950, the area of cultivated fields reached pre-war levels, the volume of coal mining and the production of metallurgical products in the Rostov Region exceeded the similar indicators of 1940 several times. The indisputable contribution to these achievements was made by the young residents of the Region.
