Onymization of Appellatives in F.A. Iskander's Philosophical Fairy Tale "Rabbits and Boas": a Text-forming Function

(Abkhazian State University)

Because of the insuffi cient study of the onomasticon of the works by Russian-speaking writer F.A. Iskander, the description of the text-forming function of appellative literary onyms in the philosophical fairy tale "Rabbits and Boas" is a key parameter of the specificity of a proper name in the writer's work. Additionally, the functioning of appellative literary onyms is subject to the laws
of literary onomastics, since they are designed to embody the author's idea and serve as a means of aesthetic infl uence. The study tested the text-forming function of F. Iskander's appellative onyms by continuous sampling, descriptive and stylistic methods.
The analysis revealed that the most common ways of onymizing appellatives in a fairy tale are metaphorical onymization, less often metonymic and transonymization. Variant names are usually created by elliptical pre-existing models. Due to the frequent use of appellative zoonyms of F.A. Iskander's "Rabbits and boas" act not so much as an onomastic background of the work, but are its textual axis. Given the increased interest of linguists in the study of the onomasticon of the works of F.A. Iskander, it is obvious that the conclusions obtained during the study can serve as a theoretical basis for further study of the specifi cs of onymization of
appellatives in a literary text.
